Is Soil the Answer?
The Soil Science Society of America recently launched a campaign for soil-friendly eating in an attempt to get regenerative agriculture on the minds of shoppers.
Essentially, soil-friendly eating includes improving food diversity, varying protein sources, choosing sustainably produced meats, reducing food waste and composting. The idea is that when people eat (and demand) all kinds of different foods, farmers will respond by growing all kinds of different foods, which is known to create healthier soils. The result? A healthier microbiome for people, and a healthier soil for the earth.
